  3. Have the goals or objectives of the group firmly in mind.<\/li>\n
  4. Learn the strengths of each member and emphasize them.<\/li>\n
  5. Express sincere interest in each member. Encourage everyone to be responsible.<\/li>\n
  6. Be aware of the various roles that you will have: clarifier, consultant, counselor, educator, facilitator, friend, information source, mentor, and role model.<\/li>\n
  7. Provide a community for the group from semester to semester.<\/li>\n
  8. Encourage independent thinking and decision-making.<\/li>\n
  9. Assist the group in developing a system by which they can evaluate their progress.<\/li>\n
