High Point University is pleased to announce that the United Healthcare plan has been renewed and will continue to be offered to all enrolled full-time status (12+ hours) undergraduate students and all HPU Health Profession Graduate students.\u00a0 Non-health Profession Graduate students (EDU, COM, MBA, etc.) enrolled in 6 or more hours may also qualify for the plan. \u00a0The policy is effective August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026, with an annual cost of $3,226.00\u00a0<\/strong>(Currently awaiting DOI approval)<\/em><\/p>\n

**The insurance premium will be billed in two installments.\u00a0 You will see charges for medical insurance on both your fall and spring tuition bills:<\/strong><\/p>\n

$1,349 – Fall 2025 Charge\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

$1,877 – Spring 2026 Charge<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Total Premium Cost for 2025-2026:\u00a0 $3,226.00 <\/u><\/strong>(currently awaiting DOI approval)<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n

**University premiums are determined by our medical insurance policy provider each year based HPU\u2019s student demographic, previous loss ratios, etc.\u00a0 100% of this premium is paid to our medical insurance policy provider – HPU absorbs the administration cost to provide our students with the best policy at the best price.<\/em><\/p>\n

As a condition of enrollment, all HPU full-time undergraduate students and graduate health profession students are required to carry health insurance and are therefore charged automatically for insurance through our policy with United Healthcare. \u00a0Students that already have a comparable health coverage plan are not required to purchase our insurance but MUST complete the required insurance waiver online<\/strong> (see instructions below) in order to remove coverage and charges from their student account. \u00a0 Students that wish to purchase the HPU coverage must login and accept the insurance in order to begin enrollment in the United Healthcare policy.<\/p>\n

The policy for international students is the same policy as for domestic students at the same rates as listed above.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Accepting Coverage<\/h3>\n

The academic year waiver opens annually on May 15th. To opt into the United Health Care coverage please go to https:\/\/studentcenter.uhcsr.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n

**Once approved by the state the option to accept coverage will appear. Every student who has taken no action will automatically be enrolled as of August 1st.**<\/p>\n

Waiver Provision – Opting Out of United Healthcare Coverage<\/h3>\n

The 2025-2026 Academic year waiver will open May 15, 2025. To opt out of the United Health Care coverage please go to https:\/\/studentcenter.uhcsr.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Students who have \u201cother comparable coverage\u201d and wish to waive the HPU health plan, must complete the Waiver Form above. The waiver period will close on August 30, 2025. Comparable coverage is defined as individual medical and sickness indemnity plans, employer-sponsored group insurance plans, Medicare, TriCare, or Medicaid.<\/p>\n

Any student not submitting a waiver by this date will automatically be enrolled in the coverage and the charge will remain on their accounts. If late waivers are submitted, students will be charged for months of coverage prior to the first of the month following the date of the submitted waiver. Premiums charged\/paid prior to the waiver being accepted are non-refundable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

High Point University’s Student Health Center is powered by Novant Health. Novant Health accepts most insurance providers; please\u00a0call your private health insurance carrier to verify if Novant Health is \u201cin-network\u201d for your plan, even if you live in North Carolina. You can also check the Novant Health website<\/a>\u00a0to verify the accepted plans by commercial, PHP and marketplace. When you speak to your health insurance plan representative, let them know that you have a child who is headed off to college. Your representative can inform you of the plan\u2019s requirements for students being seen for health visits while living out of state.<\/p>\n

Once a student has accepted our insurance via United Healthcare, they need to proceed to the United Healthcare portal following the directions below in order to obtain official ID cards for their health policy.<\/p>\n
