Thanks to everyone for sharing your talent at auditions and callbacks!\u00a0 If you don’t get a part this time, don’t hesitate to try again at the end of the semester for our wonderful spring semester shows. And everybody is invited to join us for Drama Cafe on Saturday, September 5 from 1-2 PM in the Empty Space Theatre to show off your star power with some dramatic readings from fabulous classic plays. No preparation required! Come have fun and hang out with the creative crowd!<\/p>\n

I know it’s discouraging not to receive a role. Casting decisions come down to a lot of factors beyond talent alone, fit for a specific part, balance across the ensemble, what a particular script calls for.<\/p>\n

The Iliad, The Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Character Breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n

This fast-paced, ensemble-driven comedy tells the major stories of Greek mythology through rapid character changes, physical storytelling, heightened comedy, and direct engagement with the audience.<\/p>\n

This production will be cast as eight ensemble tracks<\/strong>. Each performer will play multiple roles throughout the show, with one or more featured anchor roles and a variety of supporting, comic, mythic, and utility characters. Casting is gender-flexible, and actors may be considered for any track. Performers should be comfortable with broad comedy, quick transitions, stylized movement, and collaborative ensemble work.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong> Stage combat and physical contact\/proximity may be required for any track. Dialects, accents, or heightened vocal choices may be explored in rehearsal. The show moves quickly and requires strong cue pickup, clear storytelling, and energetic ensemble focus.<\/p>\n

M1: Sky Authority<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Archetype:<\/strong> Power \/ Order \/ Divine Hosting<\/li>\n
  • A commanding presence who often frames the action, holds authority, and embodies gods, kings, rulers, and mythic figures of status. This track balances grandiosity, comic seriousness, and moments of physical comedy.<\/li>\n
  • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
    \nZeus, Poseidon, Menelaos, Achilles, Nestor, Perseus, Orpheus, Pygmalion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    M2: Survivor \/ Strategist<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Archetype:<\/strong> Cunning \/ Endurance \/ Through-Line Hero<\/li>\n
    • A central storytelling track built around intelligence, adaptation, emotional drive, and survival. This performer carries much of the Odyssey material and several key mythic and heroic figures.<\/li>\n
    • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
      \nOdysseus, Hector, Hades, Apollo, Ares, Prometheus, Pyramus, Principal Thomas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      M3: Engine \/ Trickster<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Archetype:<\/strong> Momentum \/ Transformation \/ Chaos<\/li>\n
      • The comic motor of the show. This track includes tricksters, monsters, warriors, narrators, fools, and chaotic forces who keep the pace moving and the world constantly shifting.<\/li>\n
      • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
        \nHermes, Agamemnon, Paris, Diomedes, Jason, Hercules, Cyclops, Minotaur<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        W1: Moral Authority<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Archetype:<\/strong> Wisdom \/ Judgment \/ Conscience<\/li>\n
        • A track grounded in intelligence, clarity, and moral authority. This performer often serves as guide, commentator, truth-teller, or emotional counterweight to the chaos around them.<\/li>\n
        • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
          \nAthena, Demeter, Oracle, Ms. Henderson, Patroklos, Andromache, Medea, Medusa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          W2: Love \/ Curiosity \/ Spark<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Archetype:<\/strong> Desire \/ Wonder \/ Disruption<\/li>\n
          • A bright, catalytic track centered on curiosity, beauty, desire, discovery, and disruption. These characters often change the course of events, sometimes accidentally and sometimes with full mythic force.<\/li>\n
          • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
            \nAphrodite, Pandora, Artemis, Hestia, Helen, Iphigenia, Eurydice, Galatea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            W3: Power & Volatility<\/strong><\/p>\n

            • Archetype:<\/strong> Jealousy \/ Punishment \/ Uncomfortable Truth<\/li>\n
            • A high-impact character track filled with gods, challengers, provocateurs, truth-tellers, and forces of consequence. This performer brings friction, danger, and intensity into the comic world of the play.<\/li>\n
            • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
              \nHera, Persephone, Ariadne, Sisyphus, Tantalus, Tiresias, Iris, Phaethon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              W4: War & Honor<\/strong><\/p>\n

              • Archetype:<\/strong> Glory \/ Rage \/ Iliad Spine<\/li>\n
              • A physically active track connected to the Trojan War, martial honor, and the heightened emotional world of the Iliad. This track carries several warrior figures and battlefield moments.<\/li>\n

                \nAchilles, Ajax, Menelaos, Greek Soldier, Trojan Commander, Trojan Guard, Trojan Soldier, Father<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                W5: Home \/ Return \/ Resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n

                • Archetype:<\/strong> Loyalty \/ Homecoming \/ Emotional Payoff<\/li>\n
                • A track that helps bring the story toward resolution, especially through the Odyssey material. These roles provide heart, longing, transformation, and the emotional payoff of homecoming.<\/li>\n
                • Featured roles may include:<\/strong>
                  \nPenelope, Telemachus, Circe, Calypso, Thetis, King Priam\/Priam, Queen, Odysseus\u2019 Mother<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Ensemble Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  All actors should be prepared for:<\/p>\n

                  • Fast-paced farce and rapid character changes<\/li>\n
