{"id":227,"date":"2021-03-22T11:35:34","date_gmt":"2021-03-22T15:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/title-ix\/?page_id=227"},"modified":"2026-08-10T11:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T15:08:15","slug":"impacted-by-sexual-harassment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/title-ix\/impacted-by-sexual-harassment\/","title":{"rendered":"Impacted by Sexual Harassment"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What is sexual harassment?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Sexual Harassment<\/strong> is conduct of a sexual nature or based on sex, that satisfies one or more of the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Unwelcome conduct determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it unreasonably interferes with an individual\u2019s functioning or creates an intimidating, hostile, or abusive working or learning environment.<\/li>\n<li>An employee of the University conditioning the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of the University on an individual\u2019s participation in unwelcome sexual conduct.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Sexual Harassment includes:<\/h2>\n<p>Behavior that is not limited to personal interactions but can include acts that occur over the phone, social media, the internet and other forms of communication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples include but are not limited to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comments (either oral or written, including electronic correspondence and social media) of a sexual nature which normally will not include matters appropriate to discuss as part of university academic activity such as courses, seminars, and lectures.<\/li>\n<li>Touching, hugging or patting a person&#8217;s body;<\/li>\n<li>Requests of a sexual nature as a term or condition of employment or academic status;<\/li>\n<li>related requests for dates after refusal;<\/li>\n<li>Rape or other sexual assault;<\/li>\n<li>Sexual propositions, invitations, solicitations, or flirtations<\/li>\n<li>Questions, jokes, or stories of a sexual nature;<\/li>\n<li>Disparaging remarks, gestures related to sexual activity, experience, gender, or sexual orientation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What can you do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you want to report right away or speak with Confidential Resources, there are options for how you decide to move forward. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is sexual harassment?
