{"id":866,"date":"2026-07-30T10:53:53","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T14:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/title-ix\/?page_id=866"},"modified":"2026-08-10T11:25:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T15:25:22","slug":"retaliation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/title-ix\/retaliation\/","title":{"rendered":"Impacted by Retaliation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is Retaliation?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Retaliation<\/strong>\u00a0means to intimidate, threaten, coerce, or discriminate against any individual for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by this Policy, or because the individual has made a report or complaint, testified, assisted, or participated or refused to participate in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Intimidation, threats, coercion, or discrimination, including charges against an individual for code of conduct violations that do not involve sex discrimination or sexual harassment, but arise out of the same facts or circumstances as a report or complaint of sex discrimination, or a report or formal complaint of sexual harassment, for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by this Policy constitutes retaliation.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Examples include but are not limited to:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A university refuses to renew a student&#8217;s research assistant position because the student filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment.<\/li>\n<li>A faculty member excludes a student from extra credit opportunities after the student reports sexual misconduct.<\/li>\n<li>A student organization bars someone from leadership or activities because they participated in a Title IX investigation.<\/li>\n<li>An administrator threatens a student with disciplinary action if they continue pursuing a Title IX complaint.<\/li>\n<li>Changing work schedules or class assignments in a way that harms the person who reported discrimination.<\/li>\n<li>Spreading rumors or disclosing the identity of a complainant to discourage future reports.<\/li>\n<li>Intimidating or pressuring someone to withdraw their complaint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What can you do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you want to report right away or speak with Confidential Resources, there are options for how you decide to move forward. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Retaliation?
