To fulfill this mission, the editors of the journal solicit works that represent a full range of disciplines.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Deadline for submissions is January 31<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be a High Point University undergraduate student or recent graduate (within 12 months) to submit. Recent graduates may only submit manuscripts completed while an undergraduate at High Point University.<\/li>\n<li>Must have conducted scholarly work under the mentorship of a High Point University faculty member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Submission Requirements:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit the following information to <strong>Scholastica via the Scholastic button on the website<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Text manuscript as a Microsoft Word document.<\/li>\n<li>Separate abstract of manuscript, 150-250 words.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsoring statement from HPU faculty member that specifically affirms the mentor has read and critiqued the manuscript content, grammar, and overall presentation and that the planning, execution, and writing of the manuscript represent the work of the undergraduate student.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/urcw\/files\/2013\/07\/JURCW_author_agreement_form.docx\">Author Agreement Form<\/a>\u00a0(as .docx or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.highpoint.edu\/urcw\/files\/2016\/12\/JURCW_author_agreement_form-9.pdf\"> pdf)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h3><strong>Authorship Policy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Our journal follows the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icmje.org\/recommendations\/browse\/roles-and-responsibilities\/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html\">ICMJE authorship criteria<\/a>: authors must (1) make a substantial scholarly contribution; (2) draft the article or revise it critically for important intellectual content; (3) approve the final version; <strong>and<\/strong> (4) accept accountability for the integrity of the work. Contributors who do not meet all four criteria are listed in an Acknowledgments section. \u00a0Mentorship and general supervision are recognized via CRediT and\/or acknowledgments and do not, on their own, justify authorship.\u00a0Disputes are handled by the editorial team per <a href=\"https:\/\/publicationethics.org\/guidance\/discussion-document\/authorship\">C<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/publicationethics.org\/guidance\/discussion-document\/authorship\">OPE guidance<\/a>; decisions prioritize student welfare and disciplinary fairness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy<\/h2>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\"><em>Innovation: Journal of Creative and Scholarly Works<\/em> publishes original undergraduate scholarship and creative work. As such, the intellectual conception, analysis, interpretation, argumentation, and writing of all submitted work must be the substantially original work of the student author(s). Generative artificial intelligence systems may not be used to generate, compose, rewrite, expand, or substantially revise any portion of a submitted manuscript. AI systems may not be credited as authors or co-authors and cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, or integrity of published work.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">The following uses of AI tools may be permitted when they do not contribute substantive content to the manuscript:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Grammar, spelling, and proofreading assistance<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Formatting assistance<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Reference management support<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Coding or statistical assistance when appropriately disclosed<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Data organization, transcription, or similar technical support<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">Accessibility support tools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">Any use of AI tools must be disclosed at submission. Authors must provide a statement describing:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">The specific AI tool(s) used;<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">The purpose for which each tool was used;<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">The portions of the project affected by the tool;<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\">The extent of human review and revision performed by the author.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">This disclosure should appear in a separate &#8220;AI Use Statement&#8221; submitted with the manuscript and may be published at the discretion of the editors. Failure to disclose AI use, or the use of AI to generate substantive text, analysis, creative content, interpretations, conclusions, images, or other intellectual contributions presented as the student&#8217;s own work, constitutes grounds for rejection, withdrawal of acceptance, or retraction after publication.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\"><strong>The student author(s) remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted work.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Guidelines:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Writing should be clear, logical, and free from typographical or grammatical errors.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscripts must be Times New Roman 12 point font, 1 inch margins, double spaced.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscripts should be formatted in the most recent editions of the citation style appropriate to one\u2019s academic discipline ie: MLA, Chicago, APA.<\/li>\n<li>Submit graphs, pictures, images, as separate attachments. Attach as jpg, Word document, or Excel file.<\/li>\n<li>If work involves animal or human subjects include your Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) number in author cover letter.<\/li>\n<li>The work may not be under consideration by other publications. If the work was previously published in a limited access source, disclose the source to the editor.<\/li>\n<li>Student authors retain copyright ownership of their work.
