I&#039;m originally from Maryland and I graduated with a double major in physics and mathematics with a minor in chemistry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">I currently work as a patent attorney at Baker Hostetler in Seattle, Washington, where I work with scientists and engineers to help them protect their technologies in various technology spaces such as software, electrical engineering, mechanical devices, and biotechnology.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header-top\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-number\">2<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"hpu-video-transcript-speaker\">How does High Point University provide holistic education?<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-container\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-inner\">\n                                    <span class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-time\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IqYXO2n5nGk&amp;t=38\">0:38<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">High Point University talks about being a values-based education and to me that relates a lot to the holistic education that they provide here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">While I was here I was able to continue to explore those interests playing intramural sports: volleyball, softball, scuba diving, gymnastics. Having the opportunity to explore a variety of interests here at High Point has been helpful and both applicable to my current role where I deal with a variety of technology fields, types of law attorneys and still maintaining a lot of extracurricular interest.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header-top\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-number\">3<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"hpu-video-transcript-speaker\">What is experiential learning at High Point University?<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-container\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-inner\">\n                                    <span class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-time\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IqYXO2n5nGk&amp;t=71\">1:11<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">Well and a lot of these scientific courses here at high point there was a large experiential learning component where we did research or some kind of project that would translate into what you would actually do in an internship or a job.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header-top\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-number\">4<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"hpu-video-transcript-speaker\">How do High Point University professors mentor students?<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-container\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-inner\">\n                                    <span class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-time\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IqYXO2n5nGk&amp;t=84\">1:24<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">My greatest mentor is here at High Point where in the physics and math and academic services departments Dr. Pfizer and Dr. kurti and the academic services department all of them were helpful in supporting me through various interests, research experiences, internships and even as I was applying to graduate school they wrote letters of recommendation for me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">There I still keep in contact with them and see them every time I come back to campus.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header-top\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-number\">5<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"hpu-video-transcript-speaker\">How does the HPU community support its alumni?<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-container\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-inner\">\n                                    <span class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-time\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IqYXO2n5nGk&amp;t=110\">1:50<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">After graduating I got into marathon running and took on a charity challenge to run seven marathons in seven days from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. And I took on that challenge to raise money for multiple sclerosis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">My friends here at High Point found out about it. The whole community gathered to support that endeavor. In the Communications Department they contacted the regional newspaper and got an article on the front page. They put an article in the High Point magazine about it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">The athletic department sent me gear. The physics department sent a bill to SGA to request the donation to my fundraising efforts and even Dr. Qubein supported that made sure High Point University did all it could to support me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">I was able to run the 210 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and raise over thirty thousand dollars in the process.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-header-top\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-number\">6<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"hpu-video-transcript-speaker\">What sets High Point University apart from other colleges?<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-container\">\n<div class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text-inner\">\n                                    <span class=\"hpu-video-transcript-chapter-time\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IqYXO2n5nGk&amp;t=155\">2:35<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">I would advise High Point University students to take advantage of all the opportunities that they have on campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hpu-video-transcript-text\">What sets High Point apart from other universities are the smaller class sizes and the teaching styles of the instructors here.
