HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 14, 2011 – Dr. Peter Summers was recently hired by the Phillips School of Business at High Point University as assistant professor of economics.

In his new position, Summers will be responsible for teaching introductory and intermediate macroeconomics along with money and banking courses. Summers says his area of expertise is in macroeconomics, including the study of the business cycle, as well as economic analysis and forecasting.

“Every time I walk onto campus I think how lucky I am that I get to work in a place like this. It’s really very exciting to be part of the university and the High Point community,” Summers says.

Summers says he looks forward to having a favorable impact on HPU students. “The prospect of close interaction with students in the HPU environment was one of the main attractions of the position here,” he adds.

Summers earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications, a Masters of Science in mathematics, and a Doctorate in economics, all from the University of Iowa.
