HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 7, 2016 – High Point University invites the community to the first Chamber Music Series concert of 2016, to be held at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 in the Charles E. Hayworth Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
The program will feature HPU Bassoon Instructor Mark Hekman performing chamber music influenced by musical traditions from around the world, including works by Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Kotch and Koshinski. He will be joined by HPU faculty Dr. Nathan Daughtrey, Dr. Thomas Pappas and Dr. Laura Stevens.
“The purpose of this recital is to show that chamber music exists throughout the world,” says Hekman. “It doesn’t always have to sound like Western Classical music and often has influences from many different cultural elements. We hope this concert will bridge the gap between folk, art and popular music for our audience.”
Due to inclement weather, this concert has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
