HIGH POINT, N.C., May 10, 2018 – High Point University recently welcomed six new staff members. They are as follows:
Kristen Bunner joined the Office of Global Education at HPU as the coordinator of global education. She plans cross-cultural campus events and activities and promotes international opportunities for HPU students. She also manages the office’s global education programming, promotional materials, websites and social media activities, and she assists with orientation for students traveling abroad. Bunner previously served in the Peace Corps as a community health and HIV/AIDS volunteer in Namibia. She also has experience working in higher education, most recently as an international programming assistant. Bunner holds bachelor’s degrees in Africana studies and history, a Master of Arts in cross-cultural and international education, and a graduate-level certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
Amber Slade joined the Office of Career and Professional Development at HPU as a career advisor. She helps students develop and execute internship and job searches, major and career exploration, reviewing resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn accounts, career assessments and preparing for job and graduate school interviews. Her guidance supports students in pursuing their personal and professional goals with confidence. She has prior experience in higher education serving as an assistant director for internships. In this role, she coordinated a credit-bearing internship program while working with community partners and providing career counseling to students. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in career counseling.
Leanna Nicks joined HPU as director of the Office of Research Administration and Sponsored Programs. She works with faculty to identify research opportunities and ensures the integrity of the university’s research program, including management of research funding and compliance. Nicks has eight years of experience in research administration, grants management and proposal development in university settings. An HPU alumna, she has a bachelor’s degree in English.
Breanne Boyd joined the Office of Student Accounts at HPU as an information and business process analyst. She provides research and analysis for the office and works with Information Technology to configure, test and maintain various computer systems used for billing. Her prior experience in the higher education and insurance industries includes working in data management and customer service. She has a Bachelor of Science in business administration and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration.
Justin Waller joined the Department of Physical Therapy at HPU as a human physiology research assistant. He will perform physiological testing and contribute to the department’s scholarly work, specifically in the areas of metabolism and cardiovascular function and performance. He also will help students with study design, data collection, analysis and publication of the research they conduct with faculty. He previously worked for two years as a physiologist and Physiology Support Laboratory supervisor with the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center in Davis, California. He has a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science and a Master of Science in exercise physiology.
Tiffany McCallum joined the Office of Information Technology at HPU as a computing support analyst. She helps students, faculty and staff to be comfortable using university technology and ensures that technological needs are met as the campus community grows. She has previous experience working on an IT helpdesk. She has a bachelor’s degree in German studies with a minor in psychology.
