Freshman Profile: A Dedication to Service

HPU’s largest cohort of 1,470 new students represents a wide variety of academic achievement, service, backgrounds, cultures and geographic locations. Below is a snapshot of a student who embodies HPU’s commitment to serving and giving back.

Name: Mary McAllister

High school attended: Riverside High School in Durham, N.C.

Accomplishments: McAllister has been on numerous mission trips with her church youth group, including working with the homeless population in Washington, D.C. and helping rebuild houses in Alabama that had been destroyed by tornadoes. As a member of the North Carolina Church Conference, she attends events during the fall and works on mission trips during the summer. She says she enjoys serving people and going on mission trips because she loves making people happy and showing love to others.

Why you chose HPU: “I chose HPU because it has the best program for graphic design, and the campus is marvelous!”

What you’re looking forward to at HPU: “I’m definitely excited about getting to meet new, caring people at HPU!”
