B.S. in Pharmacy
JSS University, India

Dr. Jwala Renukuntla received her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from JSS University, India. She then received her PhD in Pharmaceutics from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Missouri Kansas City-School of Pharmacy (UMKC-SOP). After mastering skills in Pharmaceutics and its application to drug delivery, she started her career as an Assistant professor of Pharmaceutics at the South College School of Pharmacy, Knoxville, TN. Her primary research focus is to develop nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems to treat Ocular Infections. She successfully obtained external funding from International Academy of Compounding Pharmacy (IACP) to study the stability of Compounded pain medication cream. Later she moved to the University of Texas El Paso School of Pharmacy where she established her Drug Delivery research lab and secured extramural funding from Pharmaceutical industry and several pilot project Grants. She published her research in multiple Pharmaceutics and drug delivery journals and she also published several book chapters. She presented her work at prestigious conferences like Controlled Release Society meeting, Gordon Research Conference and American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Currently she is working as an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences at High Point University, where she heads a lab that specializes in nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems to treat Ocular and skin infections. Her other research interests are non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding and stability testing.
