Computer Requirements

Graphic Design—Minimum Computing Requirements

Hardware:
The Recommended Computer System: The Apple Macintosh remains the dominant computer in the print design, publishing, and multimedia design industries. We recommend the MacBook Pro Laptop with a minimum 2.2 GHz processor and 4GB of memory for all Graphic Design majors.  The system we recommend is based on the newest Intel Core 2 Duo technology, and the software that we require for our courses follows industry standards.

Software:
Graphic Design students should purchase the current version of Creative Suite 5 Design Premium which should include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

Operating System – Mac® OS X® 10.9.1 “Mavericks” or higher

  • Processor – 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel® Core i7™ recommended, or equivalent
  • Memory – 16 GB RAM
  • Disk Space – Minimum 40 GB free disk space; recommend 100 GB free disk space available,
500GB or higher hard drive / PCIe-based Flash Storage
  • Video Display – 2,880 × 1,800 recommended with 24-bit color
  • Graphics card – NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M or newer with 1GB OR higher of VRAM recommended
  • Browser – Parallels Desktop® 9.0.24172 for Mac or newer (Internet Explorer 7.0 or later, or equivalent)
