Internship plans: Julia Andresson, Class of 2027, served as a Marketing Intern at Reynolds American Inc. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She gained hands-on experience in trade marketing, consumer insights and brand strategy while developing a stronger understanding of corporate business operations. Through field immersion, cross-functional learning and project-based work, Julia strengthened her ability to turn consumer and market insights into actionable marketing strategies while growing both professionally and personally.

“High Point University has given me countless opportunities to step into leadership roles across campus, allowing me to explore different areas of interest and discover what I am truly passionate about. “I have used the Office of Career & Professional Development to explore career opportunities, learn how to effectively use Handshake and navigate the internship and job search process. I have also built relationships with the staff in the office, who have provided guidance and support as I explored different career paths and prepared for professional opportunities.”

What life skills did HPU help you develop?:

“HPU has helped me develop important life skills such as communication, time management, adaptability and confidence. Balancing academics with multiple leadership roles, internships and involvement on campus has taught me how to manage competing priorities, build meaningful relationships and step outside of my comfort zone. These experiences have prepared me to approach future challenges with confidence and a willingness to learn and grow.”

“Stacy Lipowski, associate professor of psychology, has been one of the most impactful mentors I have had at HPU because she has supported me both academically and personally while encouraging me to explore opportunities outside of my comfort zone. As a professor and mentor, she has always been willing to offer guidance, challenge me to think differently and help me recognize my potential, making a lasting impact on the person and professional I am becoming.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“One of the most impactful parts of my time at HPU has been seeing how deeply the university values giving back to the community. Being able to experience this firsthand through the annual Bike Build and working closely with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club has shown me the impact we can make when we come together to support others. These experiences have made my time at HPU more meaningful and strengthened my desire to continue serving and giving back to my community.”
