Life Skill: Professional Coachability
Program Overview
High Point University students pursuing the Certificate in Coachability program will develop a critical life skill by attending four Innovator In Residence Sessions during Spring 2025. This program offers participants the opportunity to learn directly from accomplished professionals across diverse industries, enhancing their ability to accept, implement, and grow from feedback while demonstrating adaptability in professional environments.
Program Objectives
- Embrace Feedback for Growth: Empower students to seek and implement feedback effectively, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Learn from Industry Innovators: Provide access to industry leaders who share insights, strategies, and personal experiences that emphasize the importance of being coachable.
- Foster Continuous Improvement: Equip students with tools to self-reflect and refine their professional skills in response to real-world challenges and opportunities.
- Develop Professional Relationships: Build meaningful connections with accomplished innovators, faculty mentors, and peers, laying the foundation for career success.
Program Structure
Participants will engage in the following components to earn their certificate:
- Pre-Session Preparation:
- Register using an online form for the event.
- Access to Innovator Sessions (Spring 2025):
- Attend at least four sessions featuring industry leaders and innovators.
- Actively participate in Q&A discussions designed to explore the value of coachability in achieving professional and personal goals.
- Reflection and Post-Session Requirement:
- Submit Reflection Answers via an online form upon completion of each session consisting of insights, lessons learned, and examples of how coachability has been applied to academic or extracurricular pursuits.
Program Requirements
To qualify for the Certificate in Coachability, students must:
- Register and attend at least four Innovator in Residence Sessions.
- Actively engage during sessions by asking questions or contributing to discussions.
- Complete and submit the Reflection Questions by the end of the semester.

The program is open to all High Point University students seeking to:
- Enhance their professional skill set.
- Develop a growth mindset for lifelong learning.
- Strengthen their ability to thrive in team-oriented or leadership roles.
Recognition and Benefits
Upon successful completion, students will receive:
- Certificate in Coachability from High Point University.

This program positions HPU students to excel in collaborative, feedback-driven environments by instilling the mindset and skills necessary for growth and professional success.
