Who: High Point University community and the media. The event is not open to the public.
What: In conjunction with its Martin Luther King Day Service, HPU will host the MLK Day of Service. Two stations will be set up on campus, giving students, faculty and staff an opportunity to serve others in the community.
One station will be set up in the courtyard behind McEwen Hall. There, students, faculty and staff will plant cyclamen into 6-inch pots. The finished products will be given to cancer patients at High Point Regional Cancer Center and other local hospitals.
A second station will be set up in the Great Room of the Slane Student Center. There, participants will make snow globes for local nursing home patients at the Homeplace at Piedmont Christian Home and Presbyterian Home of High Point.
When: 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19.

Why: The event will help further the special message of peace, hope and inspiration on Martin Luther King Day as HPU students, faculty and staff reach out to serve the community.
