HIGH POINT, N.C., April 15, 2009 – High Point University will host “Cabaret… An Original HPU Music Production,” at 7:30 p.m. on April 23 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public.
Directed by Dr. Alexa Schlimmer, associate professor of music at HPU, and accompanied by Marcia Dills, university accompanist, the event features HPU Music and Theatre majors, along with a chamber ensemble, performing selections from musical theatre, including “Jekyll & Hyde” and the “Scarlet Pimpernel.” In addition, students will perform medleys from Elton John’s “Lion King” and “Aida,” and from the Broadway show “Mamma Mia.”
“This is our second year performing ‘From Cabaret to Stage,'” says Schlimmer. “It was an enormous success last spring.”
