High Point University Adds Three Members To Athletics Administration

The High Point University Athletic Department has added three new members to its administrative team. Joe Arancio joins HPU as Assistant Sports Information Director, Erika Carrubba joins the staff as Sports Information Assistant and Bryan Weigel joins HPU as Assistant Sports Marketing Director.

Arancio comes to High Point from the University of Michigan, where he worked for a year as Media Relations Intern. At Michigan, Arancio worked as the primary media relations contact for the nationally-ranked men’s cross country and women’s swimming and diving teams as well as the men’s track and field team. Prior to Michigan, Arancio worked for one year as Sports Information Assistant at Newberry College. Arancio graduated in 2007 from American University with a degree in journalism. While attending American, he worked for three years as a student assistant in the Sports Information office. Originally from Annandale, N.J., Arancio currently resides in High Point, N.C.

Carrubba comes to High Point University after working as a student assistant in the Sports Information Office at Northeastern University for three years. She served as the primary media contact for the women’s soccer team, secondary contact for the volleyball team, and assisted with all other home events. Carrubba also worked as the Director of Volleyball Operations for the 2008 season and previously spent two years as the sports editor of Northeastern’s student newspaper, The Huntington News. Originally from Amenia, N.Y., Carrubba graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and English from Northeastern in May and currently resides in High Point.

Weigel arrives at High Point University after four years at Ohio University, where he worked in Sports Marketing and Athletics. While at Ohio, he coordinated event management and volunteering for the entire Sport Management program. He also worked for the Ohio volleyball team for four years, rising from student manager to full-time Director of Volleyball Operations. Weigel was a facilities intern during his junior year as well as a marketing intern his senior year at Ohio. Weigel also worked as a marketing intern in the University of Cincinnati Fan Development Department, where he prepared marketing ideas for the 2009 Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla. A native of Cincinnati, Weigel earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Ohio in June.
