HPU Senior Spends Time In Court During Summer Internship

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 23, 2009 – Cassidy Canipe, a senior majoring in criminal justice at High Point University, is gaining career experience this summer thanks to an exciting internship at the Wake County Courthouse in Raleigh.

“So far, I have been working in different areas of the Criminal Justice Intake Department, to observe how people are processed through our criminal justice system,” Canipe says. “I have also been observing different types of court proceedings, including traffic offenses, minor misdemeanors, domestic violence and drug abuse. Later this summer, I’ll be working with the Trial Court Administrator. This job is definitely a huge reinforcement of what I’ve been learning in the classroom.”
