HPU Student Learns Trade In Family Business Through Summer Internship

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 31, 2009 – Alexa Polivka, a rising senior majoring in business at High Point University, earned an internship opportunity at Polivka International, her family?s railroad company that works to re-design and build railroads.

During her experience, Polivka says she has been gaining wonderful insight into the mechanics of a business, and she plans to keep that family business on track in the future. So far, she has been busy traveling on business trips to learn customer relations and working with each department of the company to better understand how every aspect contributes to its success.

“I didn’t realize how much goes into a business,” Polivka says. “This internship will give me an up-close and personal feel of how the real world is and how it all works together.”
