HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 14, 2009 – Janine Lind, a rising senior at High Point University, is spending the summer racking up regional advertising business for the likes of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Gourmet and more.
Lind, a Garden City, N.Y., native who is majoring in business administration with a minor in marketing, is interning at Mediamax Network, a partner of the publishing giant Conde Nast Publications.
“Some of the major roles I have experienced this summer with Mediamax include assisting in lead research in specific markets, proofing sell sheets for the marketing team, updating records through the company database system and other various projects,” Lind says.
Through the experience, she says she is learning hands-on how a marketing company works – especially since she?s worked in several different areas during her internship.
“I’ve become familiar with the research department, sales representatives, the productions group and more,” Lind says. “I have come to understand how everyone plays an important role in making a marketing company successful. I am also learning the basics of how to gain clientele, as well as keep them in your company?s future.”
Lind is especially grateful to have such an experience, and in fact, the internship has led her to realize that this is the field she wants to pursue upon graduation from HPU.
“I have not only gained knowledge in the marketing world, but confidence as well,” Lind says. “After graduation, my goals include not only getting a job in the marketing department, but also to be happy with that decision.”
