HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 19, 2009 – High Point University will host North Carolina State Treasurer Janet Cowell on Aug. 28. During her visit to campus, she will discuss debt and affordability issues with students.
Cowell will arrive on campus at 10:30 a.m. to tour the campus, then will have a roundtable discussion and boxed lunch with students.
During the lunch, she hopes to discuss debt issues facing students in North Carolina. She would also like to learn their own personal stories and experiences with paying for their educations and getting suggestions on initiatives she can pursue to make that aspect of life easier for them. Also, Cowell will show a Generation Engage documentary on debt for students.
“High Point University is pleased to welcome State Treasurer Janet Cowell to campus,” says Chris Dudley, vice president for administration. “We look forward to her enlightening and informative discussion with HPU students, and the exchange of ideas that will take place. Our students will have a chance to make policy suggestions, and she will be able to answer their questions and address concerns they may have.”
