HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 6, 2009 ? The High Point University History Club recently held a unique inaugural event ? the first ever “Historical Halloween.”
Ellen Shelton, vice president of the club, organized the event.
“The event was held in the Fellowship Hall of Hayworth Chapel, complete with Halloween decorations,” Shelton says. “We provided information about the history of Halloween, and students came dressed as historical figures ? such as a Southern belle, Albert Einstein, Zeus and Hera, a knight and more. We painted pumpkins and had an apple-bobbing station as well.”
The event ended with a “Best Costume Contest,” and the group watched “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”
“We hope this becomes an annual event,” Shelton says, who adds the History Club is in the chartering process.
