HPU Professor Of Education Receives Tenure

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. Nov. 9, 2009 ? Dr. Beth Holder, associate professor of education in the School of Education at High Point University, has received tenure.

Holder specializes in special education with emphasis in the areas of teaching those with mild disabilities, intellectual disabilities and the academically gifted. In addition to teaching various education courses, she also serves as coordinator of the Undergraduate Special Education and Academically/Intellectually Gifted Licensure programs.

Holder received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Greensboro College. She also holds Master of Education and doctorate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is originally from Hickory, N.C.

Holder came to HPU in 2005 and since then has published numerous articles and made presentations at local, regional and national conferences. She is a member of the Teacher Education Council, including the Academic Planning and On-line Course committees, and is the adviser to the student club Teachers of Tomorrow.
