HPU's Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Takes A Swing At Cancer Through Philanthropy Event

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 25, 2009 ? Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at High Point University recently raised a great deal of money for a good cause as part of a philanthropy event ? the Fifth Annual Garnet and Gold Golf Classic. Proceeds from the Nov. 7 event were donated to the Jimmy V Foundation.

The annual event, which was held at Holly Ridge Golf Links in Archdale, raised nearly $2,000 for the foundation, which raises money for cancer research. The foundation is named for Jimmy Valvano, a former basketball coach at North Carolina State University.

The golf outing also treated participants to lunch and dinner, and awards were given out for the first-, second- and third-place teams. Awards were also given out for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
