HPU Associate Professor Of Physical Education Presents At Conferences In South Carolina And Arkansas

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 3, 2009 ? Dr. Martie Bell, associate professor of physical education, recently presented her research at two separate conferences ? one in South Carolina and another in Arkansas.

The first was a presentation at the 2009 Physical Education Teacher Education Conference, held in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Bell presented ?What?s Happening in PETE? Conversations and Dialogues,? along with her colleague Terry Senne, from Texas Women?s College.

Bell covered two topics in her presentation ? teaching students for the 21st century, and teachers as role models.

“This was based on changes that are happening across the country and the literature review behind it,” Bell says.

Bell?s second presentation took place in Eureka Springs, Ark. There, she was invited by the Arkansas Department of Education to present to the organizational meeting of Arkansas Health and Physical Education Faculty Council.

“I presented at the Arkansas Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance pre-conference meeting,” Bell explains. “This was the first time health and physical education faculty from all over the state had met. There, I talked about the SPARK program that I incorporated into my education classes. I also discussed how our state faculty meets and discusses issues concerning our education programs and standards.”
