HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 1, 2009 ? Dr. Pamela Hedrick, assistant professor of religion at High Point University, attended the Annual Society of Biblical Literature Meeting in New Orleans, La. The conference, which provides a forum for the exchange of ideas between educators, students, religious leaders and individuals who share a mutual interest in the critical investigation of the Bible, was held Nov. 21-24.
Hedrick served as the co-chair of the Book of Acts Committee along with Loveday Alexander from the University of Sheffield in England. Hedrick’s responsibilities as co-chair included planning invited and open discussion sessions, soliciting papers, coordinating the international committee of scholars who judge submissions, presiding over a session and attending several chair and committee meetings.
“I was very fortunate not only to help guide the Acts sections at the meeting, but to participate in sessions as varied as teaching biblical Greek, the literary study of the Gospel of John, and the role of archaeology in biblical study,” Hedrick says. “I am grateful to High Point University for its support of my continued participation in this academic organization.”
