HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 3, 2009 ? High Point University student Alison Earley is polishing up her acting skills thanks to her participation in the upcoming North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, where she?ll be part of the cast of “A Christmas Carol.”
Earley, a senior majoring in performance theatre, says she became involved with the festival after one of her professors suggested she audition.
“A couple of weeks before the audition, another professor provided an opportunity to volunteer for the festival ? allowing me to meet the people involved before the auditions,” Earley says.
Earley scored several roles, including Fan, the Charwoman, Fred?s party guest, a Fezziwig guest and a townsperson. She also serves as an understudy for two other roles.
The production of “A Christmas Carol” marks Earley’s first experience with the festival, and she’s found it to be rewarding.
“The most exciting part about being a part of the NC Shakespeare Festival is knowing that I will be a part of many people’s holiday tradition,” Earley says.
The NC Shakespeare Festival runs Dec. 4 through Dec. 20 in the High Point Theatre in downtown High Point.
