Johnston Joins HPU As Greek Life Coordinator

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 20, 2011 – Amber VanLue Johnston has recently been hired as the Greek Life coordinator in the Office of Student Life at High Point University.

As Greek Life Coordinator, Johnston will be responsible for the development of HPU’s Greek community through programs, recruitment and retention, overseeing policies and standards, reviewing Greek organization grades, and co-managing the new Greek Village.

Johnston holds a both a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Student Affairs Administration from Indiana State University. She has previously served as an Academic Adviser at Mount Olive College-RTP, an Employer Outreach Coordinator at Duke University Career Center, and the Greek Life Coordinator at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“I’ve seen many great things here at High Point University – the commitment from the staff, the dedication of its students, and the care given to the grounds,” Johnston says. “I am honored to be a part of this team and to further the advancements of Greek life on this campus and in this community.”

The involvement of Greek organizations at High Point University is widespread, including dedicating thousands of hours of service both on campus and to organizations in the Piedmont Triad, as well as offering additional leadership and learning opportunities to their members.

The $18 million Greek Village will open at HPU in August to house 180 sorority and fraternity students. The Greek Village will feature 12, two-story buildings at 6,300 square feet each, as well as a meeting house at 11,500 square feet.
