Lashar Gets Network Experience At ABC In New York

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 29, 2011 – Sarah Lashar, a rising junior at High Point University, is getting behind-the-scenes experience while interning this summer in the marketing research department at ABC Network in New York.

Lashar, a communication major and member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, is busy with various projects, including marketing research that involves pulling data for show ratings, demographics, advertising numbers and more. She then prepares compelling client presentations.

“Classes at HPU have definitely helped me understand a variety of tasks more easily,” says Lashar. “In particular, my ?Foundations of Strategic Communications’ class helped a great deal. Many of the ideas and facts that were presented in class have come up here at ABC, and luckily I know exactly what they are talking about.”

Lashar says some of the most useful information she has learned this summer regards the computer programs she has been using. She says at the end of the 10-week program, all of the interns will come together and pitch an advertising plan for ABC to become involved with a new client. This pitch will be in front of supervisors, and even the president of ABC.

“I am especially excited to be able to list all of the extensive programs that I have had training in this summer on my resume,” says Lashar. “This is really a great opportunity.”
