Showplace Furnishes An Ideal Internship For Student

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 12, 2011 – Lauren Kopp, a rising senior majoring in business with a minor in communication at High Point University, is gaining valuable business experience in her internship at the Showplace convention center in downtown High Point.

Kopp has a variety of responsibilities that she says are helping her make decisions regarding her career path. Not only has she worked on assembling the event and entertainment calendar for the fall 2011 Furniture Market – which involves contacting previous participants and preparing contracts, but she’s also had the opportunity to utilize her creative skills by brainstorming ideas for a giveaway idea for the Fall Market.

Kopp also has the opportunity to take part in various research projects, produce webinars and attend meetings with Amy Scott, the media and marketing coordinator at Showplace.

“I feel like HPU has definitely prepared me for this internship,” Kopp says. “I’m applying specific marketing techniques that I’ve learned in the classroom, such as creating promotions and campaigns and dealing directly with clients, to real life tasks here at Showplace. This internship is giving me invaluable experience that will lead me to the career I truly want to pursue.”
