HIGH POINT, N.C., July 21, 2011 – Bradley Taylor, a rising junior at High Point University majoring in chemistry and mathematics with a minor in music, is spending the summer getting unique scientific training by interning at Wake Forest University in an undergraduate chemistry research program.
Taylor, a native of Clemmons, was chosen as one of only three students selected out of a large pool of applicants to participate in a program testing an anthracene-based dye to determine its bonding properties and reactivity. Taylor credits this honor to his training at HPU.
“Through the dedicated and connected faculty and staff in the Chemistry Department of High Point University, I was chose to be one of three summer undergraduate interns in Dr. Colyer’s lab,” Taylor says.
In his research, Taylor says he utilizes every day the basic equations he learned in general chemistry at HPU. “My chemistry classes at HPU have greatly prepared me to take on this challenge,” says Taylor.
Upon graduation, he will pursue a doctorate in chemistry and teach in the higher education field.
