HPU Student Designs For Success At Internship With NYC Interior Designer

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 16, 2011 – Emily Bell, a rising junior majoring in interior design at High Point University, is spending the summer interning with Garrow Kedigian, a highly published interior designer in New York City.

Bell’s responsibilities include performing follow-up with clients and vendors, contacting fabric vendors for prices, arranging fabric samples on presentation boards, creating estimates, and completing other various tasks based on current projects. Bell also received a promotion to office assistant, which puts her in direct contact with Kedigian.

“I think the intense coursework at High Point University has helped me manage my time at the job well,” says Bell. “I know how to prioritize what needs to get done and I know how to work efficiently.”

Bell says she couldn’t have asked for a better experience in the interior design field.

“I have learned so much about the interior design business this summer,” Bell says. “I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction into the business side of design. … This job has prepared me for a career in design.”

In addition to her internship, Bell spent five weeks this summer studying abroad in London with American InterContinental University. While in London, she studied color theory and survey of British museums.
