HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 19, 2011 – Katie Kilgore, a rising senior majoring in strategic communication at High Point University, is busy working behind the scenes at a summer internship with Leading Authorities, Inc. (LAI), a world-class lecture agency that manages or promotes top-tier speakers and nationally-recognized performers all over the world.
Kilgore has been working closely with the production manager and vice president of productions, as well as video editors and the creative and technical directors. During her time there, Kilgore’s largest responsibility has been organizing LAI’s speaker media assets, masters, and compilations, and creating databases so that the various branches of LAI can look up information at a moment’s notice. Kilgore has assisted at events sponsored by LAI at the Newseum, as well as the Chamber of Commerce.
“LAI is an amazing speaker’s bureau,” says Kilgore. “I have had the opportunity to hear incredible people speak – from CEOs to Congressmen – in a small setting. … I was very excited to find Dr. Nido Qubein listed as an LAI speaker. I’ve heard him speak on numerous occasions during my time at HPU. When something comes across my desk including his name I think of HPU and think of how fortunate I am to attend such a thriving institution.”
Kilgore’s strategic communications classes at HPU have laid a foundation that has assisted her during her internship. She has been able to build on this foundation and recognize more possibilities to utilize her future degree.
