HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 30, 2011 – Daniel Vivenzio, a rising senior majoring in communication with a concentration in journalism at High Point University, received the opportunity to serve as an intern at WRAL News in Raleigh.
As part of the internship, Vivenzio has been busy fielding story ideas. He has accompanied many different reporters on various types of stories ranging from murder trials to the firing of Butch Davis, head football coach at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Vivenzio says his courses at HPU have prepared him greatly for this internship, particularly journalism courses. He feels that the professionalism and organizational environment created by the professors has acclimated him to working in a real newsroom.
Vivenzio says he is grateful for the real-world experience that he has gained, which puts him a step ahead of peers with whom he will be competing for careers. As a bonus, has been able to make important connections in a very reputable newsroom known throughout the East Coast.
