HPU Welcomes Soranno as Instructor of Italian

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 20, 2011 – Tonilena Soranno has been hired as an instructor of Italian by the Foreign Language Department at High Point University.

“I’m excited to be part of HPU and to share with my students not only the Italian language, but also the Italian culture, music and food,” says Soranno. “We explore Italian customs, and the students share their knowledge about these subjects.”

Soranno says that teaching her students culture also relates to their family traditions and heritage.

“Some of the students have Italian families. Students write to me saying that they are so thankful because they developed a passion for Italian and an appreciation for it,” says Soranno.

Soranno, a native of Italy, earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Bari ?Aldo Moro’ in Italy.
