HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 26, 2011 – Children from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of High Point received a sweet surprise on Oct. 25 as they participated in a special Trick-or-Treat event on the High Point University campus.
The Complex – an all-women’s residence hall consisting of North, Yadkin, Wesley and McEwen residence halls – was decorated in Halloween decor, and students who live there were dressed in their Halloween best as the children arrived. The children went from door to door in The Complex, collecting candy that the HPU students offered to them.
“Putting this event together to give back to the children was the most important thing for me,” says Teresa Trotta, an HPU student who lives in North Hall. “It was wonderful to see High Point University students partake in this event to make it fun for the children and to see the smiling faces of those children as they went trick-or-treating around campus.”
“Inviting children to our campus for such a fun event is truly exciting to our students. You could just see the joy on the children’s faces,” adds Dr. Don Scarborough, vice president for Community Relations. “High Point University prides itself in being involved in community activities, and this trick-or-treating event is a prime example of how we continue to do that.”
