Department of Music to Perform Classic 'Opera Scenes'

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 18, 2011 – The Department of Music at High Point University will be treating the community to a night of music and entertainment with its program of a series of opera scenes, at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public.

The program, which will feature HPU music students and faculty members Dr. Alexa Schlimmer, director of Vocal Studies; Jacqueline Canter, instructor of voice; and Marcia Dills, director of Keyboard Studies, will showcase a variety of staged arias and ensembles from the operas of Mozart, Donizetti, Lehar, Menotti, Gilbert and Sullivan and Andrew Lloyd Weber.

The performance will feature several HPU students, including Kelly Brode, Jamie Chelel, Skyler Fritz, Dietr Getz, John Purcell, Rebecca Seger and Ashley Siebeneichen.

No tickets are required.
