HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 9, 2011 – Craig Curty, Director of Academic Services Center at High Point University, recently presented a scholarly paper at the National College Learning Center Association Conference in Indianapolis.
Curty’s paper, titled “Validating Learning Centers,” focuses on debunking common administrative, faculty, and student-perceived stigmas regarding learning centers. The presentation highlighted the importance of identifying learning center programs as a vital component of academic success.
“Institutional recognition of the importance of tutoring and other academic support opportunities leads to increased stature of the Academic Services Center,” Curty says.
The National College Learning Center Association serves to bring together higher education learning support professionals in the advancement of learning center programs at the post-secondary level.
Curty has been a member of the NCLCA since 2005 and has previously presented at NCLCA conferences. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in leadership studies at North Carolina A&T State University.
