HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 21, 2011 – ?Tis the season for sharing the gift of music – and High Point University hopes to do just that by hosting its annual Holiday Choral Concert, which will feature performances from the university’s choral ensembles, accompanied by a full orchestra made up of students, faculty and guests musicians. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. It is open to the public.
The HPU Holiday Choral Concert is an annual event that will include a festive evening of Christmas music, directed by Dr. Marc Foster, chair of the Department of Music. The ensembles will be singing “The Many Moods of Christmas” by Robert Shaw, which is a celebration of the holiday spirit, including songs like “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” “What Child is This?,” along with many other holiday favorites.
“Our Holiday Choral Concerts are fast becoming one of the favorite choral events of the year for students, faculty, staff, and the community,” Foster says. “Our combined choirs, with over 127 students, will be accompanied by a full orchestra made up of student instrumentalists, faculty, and guest musicians. This is an evening of familiar carols, beautifully set for a large chorus and orchestra by Robert Shaw, one of America’s premier conductor/musicians of the 20th century. This is an evening you will not want to miss.”
