HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 8, 2011 – Dr. Donna Scheidt was recently hired at High Point University as assistant professor of English.
In her new position, Scheidt will be responsible for teaching English courses at HPU. Scheidt’s areas of expertise are rhetoric, composition, legal studies, and law and literature.
“What I found attractive about HPU was the opportunity to pursue work within my areas of interest as part of a commitment to a liberal arts tradition with a 21st century vision,” says Scheidt. “I hope to engage students in the joys of intellectual inquiry, sharing with them my own passion for the work that I do.”
Originally from Omaha, Neb., Scheidt received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Chicago, a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School, and a Doctorate in English and Education from the University of Michigan.
Prior to joining HPU, Scheidt worked for several years as an attorney and community organizer in the fields of nonprofit law and student rights.
