HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 16, 2012 – The Department of Physical Therapy at High Point University recently announced its hire of Dr. Jeffrey B. Taylor as assistant professor and director of clinical education in the new School of Health Sciences.
Taylor’s role at HPU will be director of clinical education for the Department of Physical Therapy in the new School of Health Sciences. Taylor will be responsible for effectively developing, coordinating, and evaluating the Clinical Education Program. He will develop the curriculum and develop relationships with existing local physical therapy practices. Taylor will also be in charge of coordinating and evaluating student internships at these sites.
Taylor joins the faculty at High Point University after serving as a clinical physical therapist in several outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation settings. Taylor is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Most recently, he was the lead and founding physical therapist for Guthrie Clinic Physical Therapy in Sayre, PA. His roles have included clinical practice, administration, clinical education and research.
Taylor says that this is an exciting time to join the new school at High Point.

Knowing Dr. Erb and Dr. Hegedus, I am confident that they will grow the School of Health Sciences and the Department of Physical Therapy to national prominence,” says Taylor. “The ability to work with people of that caliber and begin my time here during the formation of the School of Health Sciences is an opportunity like no other.”
Taylor earned a Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences and psychology from the University of Delaware, and a Doctorate of physical therapy from Duke University. Taylor was recognized by Duke University for winning the Outstanding Student Achievement Award. In addition, he has also received the “20 in the Twenties Award” by the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition, given to young professionals who demonstrate excellence in the areas of academic achievement, community service, personal growth, professional achievement, and leadership.
