HPU to Host Evening of Music at Annual Faculty Recital

HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 18, 2012 – High Point University will showcase the musical talents of the university’s prestigious music faculty with the annual Faculty Recital, to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public.

The evening of music will feature a diverse selection as full-time and adjunct faculty members will both sing and play selections from nearly all genres.

HPU is designated as an “All-Steinway School” thanks to 14 handsome Steinway pianos on its campus, some of which faculty will be utilizing for the recital. The university is the only school in North Carolina and the 110th in the world to receive the designation.

“With more than 34 music professors on faculty at HPU, this evening of music is sure to delight audience members,” says Dr. Marc Foster, chair of the Department of Music and director of choral activities at HPU. “All faculty that teach music at HPU are active performing professionals in their disciplines and are well known throughout the musical community. We look forward to welcoming the community and sharing the talents of our gifted professors.”
