HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 28, 2011 – Dr. Stacy Lipowski was recently hired in the Wilson School of Commerce at High Point University as assistant professor of psychology.
In her new position, Lipowski will be teaching psychology courses, advising, and continuing her current line of research and working on new projects with the university, as well as mentoring students both inside and outside the classroom. She specializes in cognitive and developmental psychology, and is currently conducting research on long-term retention, including using testing as a study tool rather than just an assessment and finding ways to improve memory monitoring in young children.
“I feel extremely privileged to be a new member of the High Point community and I look forward to growing with the university,” says Lipowski. “High Point has the resources of a large university with the community feel of a small college. It is the best of both worlds and I feel lucky to be a new faculty member at a place that can strike this balance.”
As for impacting students, Lipowski says she hopes to teach students how to appreciate and enjoy the learning process. “I look forward to contributing to this environment of academic excellence,” she says.
Lipowski earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Union College and a Master of Arts and Doctorate from Kent State University.
