HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 5, 2012 – Dr. Stephanie Crofton, associate dean of the Phillips School of Business at High Point University, will deliver an economic outlook for North Carolina at The Best of Our State annual event, scheduled for this weekend.
The event, sponsored by Our State Magazine each year, will be held Jan. 6-8 at The Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Crofton will present “North Carolina’s Economy: Challenges and Opportunities” on Jan. 7. She will discuss issues such as the slow recovery of the United States as a whole and how that will affect North Carolina, as well as how the European debt crisis may affect the state’s exports.
“I’m honored to be able to speak at this event, especially on such an important topic – the state of our economy,” says Crofton. “2012 will be an important year in taking steps to recovery in North Carolina, and we have many positive aspects to tout, including our favorable business climate and the increasing productivity of N.C. workers.”
Crofton has received numerous awards for her research and teaching and currently serves as Associate Editor of the academic journal Essays in Economic and Business History. She has published her research in the Journal of Labor Research, the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, Essays in Economics and Business History, and the International Journal of Business research. Her areas of specialization include economic history, labor economics and international economics, and she regularly gives talks on macroeconomic conditions.
The weekend also includes presentations from North Carolina authors, artists, historians and more.
