HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 22, 2012 – The Center for Entrepreneurship at High Point University recently brought nationally recognized entrepreneur and motivational speaker Barry Moltz to campus to speak to students in the Phillips School of Business.
Moltz’s speech drew from the messages of three of his books, “You Need to Be a Little Crazy: The Truth about Starting and Growing Your Business,” “Bounce! Failure, Resiliency and the Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success,” and “BAM! Delivering Customer Service in a Self-Service World.” The books have been translated into Chinese, Russian, Korean and Thai.
Moltz, a member of the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, has taught entrepreneurship at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has also appeared on many TV and radio programs, as well, including The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, MSNBC’s Your Business and NPR’s The Tavis Smiley Show. Moltz also hosts his own radio show called “Business Insanity Talk Radio,” and writes regularly for the American Express Open Forum, Crain’s Chicago Enterprise City and Forbes.com. Prior to entrepreneurial speaking, Moltz served at IBM, in addition to starting and running three businesses of his own.
Lou Anne Flanders-Stec, director for the Center of Entrepreneurship, says Moltz’s presentation was both an entertaining and interactive event that covered important topics that are relevant to students studying business and entrepreneurship.
Kasandra Ruscitto, a senior majoring in business administration with a minor in Chinese and entrepreneurship, agreed, adding that his visit was inspiring.
“I’ve seen him speak three times, and none of his speeches are the same,” Ruscitto says. “His exciting charisma carried over to me, and made me realize that the risk I am taking in May with starting my own business will be completely worth all the hard work. He reminded me to remember that no matter what I’m trying to do, the relationships that I build with people will be the most important asset that I have.”
