HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 15, 2012 – Jessica Wood, a senior majoring in interior design at High Point University, is gaining on-the-job career experience thanks to her internship at Elements of Style Interiors design firm in Greensboro.
As part of her internship, Wood is responsible for choosing fabrics, wallpapers, furniture and accessories for their current projects, calling vendors for pricing and availability, and managing the firm’s social media and blogs.
She says her experience at HPU and the opportunities it provides students to work closely with the home furnishings and design industry are preparing her for a great future.
“My studies at HPU have given me a strong foundation to prepare me to work in the interior design industry,” says Wood. “I feel confident that I am able to choose fabrics and pieces of furniture that will fit the design for the client, and I am able to keep up with the fast-paced work environment in a design firm. … This internship will help me with my professional goals because it has and continues to give me the experience of working as a professional with clients and other designers.”
