HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 1, 2012 – The Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at High Point University recently partnered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Statewide Family Retreat Weekend to raise awareness of juvenile diabetes and help families affected by the disease.
“Many people are affected by Type 1 diabetes, and it is exciting for us to help these children and their families learn more about the disease,” says Meghan Vitti, philanthropy coordinator for the sorority.
As part of the event, Alpha Gamma Delta assisted by leading activities for the children, including arts and crafts, as well as Zumba and nutrition classes, which were held while parents attended sessions about JDRF research, new technology developments and a variety of sessions hosted by medical experts.
“Alpha Gamma Delta looks forward to helping the families affected by Type 1 diabetes and it gives us great satisfaction knowing that we personally get to interact with the children,” Vitti says.
