Students Gain Career Experience at Promotions Company

HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 23, 2012 – Several High Point University students are learning valuable on-the-job experience at Premier Productions, the No. 1 promoter of Christian concerts in the country.

Jonathan Riley, Helen Meyer and Alyssa Chislett are part of Premier Production’s spring intern team, where they are experiencing many aspects of working in a professional production company.

“At our company, the interns will gain insight into the complex business of event and concert promotions, and the multi-faceted ways that we market, produce and promote events,” says Melody Hennessee, marketing assistant at Premier Productions.

Riley, a junior majoring in communication at HPU, is utilizing his graphic design background by helping to design banners for the company’s websites. Currently, he is designing website banners for several of the music festivals that are promoted by the company.

Meyer, a senior at HPU majoring in religion with minors in marketing and home furnishings, is responsible for updating Premier’s websites, writing artists biographies, posting artist information and photos and researching grassroots marketing tools.

Chislett, a junior at HPU a majoring in business administration with a minor in marketing, is responsible for researching and expanding our grassroots marketing database for concerts and conferences. Additionally, she is helping distribute radio promotional materials, editing poster proofs and recruiting volunteers for concerts.

“My studies at HPU have been a great building block to prepare me for my marketing internship,” says Meyer. “The classes I have taken have prepared me for the real world experience I have been lucky enough to receive at Premier Productions.”

Riley agrees, adding, “Having an internship at Premier Productions has given me a glimpse of what I want to do in the future. It has given me a lot of experience and I feel really blessed to have the opportunity to learn so much while working here.”
