HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 22, 2012 – Thirteen students in the Theatre Department at High Point University recently attended the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Conference in Daytona, Fla.
As part of the four-day conference, HPU theatre students were able to network with more than 300 theatre students from other schools around the country, and attend various performances and workshops. The entire trip was paid for through a grant from the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works at HPU.
Students who attended the conference included Courtney Bedgood, Brandon Browning, Courtney Feiman, Justin Beard, Lauren Henkel, Chaz Duffy, David Mikulay, Claire Denny, William Allison, DeAnna Hughes, Marisa Brown, Jared Goldenburg and Daniel Harr.
Additionally, several HPU students were nominated to participate in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition for their outstanding work in productions at HPU.
“It was an eye-opening experience to see all of the other talent at the other schools in our region,” says Brandon Browning, a junior theatre major. “The workshops were enlightening and helpful in preparing for a future in acting after college.”
